Victoria faces parliamentary crisis over Shaw charges

Victoria faces parliamentary crisis over Shaw charges

A potential political crisis is now brewing in Victoria’s parliament, after Independent MP Geoff Shaw was yesterday charged for the alleged misuse of his taxpayer-funded car.

Mr Shaw is an Independent and holds the balance of power in Parliament.

If he is found guilty, he will have to step down, forcing a by-election in the seat of Frankston.

But Mr Shaw has told the ABC while ever he is parliament, he will represent his community, given it could be a while before the legal process is complete.
