Unions to question Telstra job cuts

Unions to question Telstra job cuts

The Communication Workers Union is calling on Telstra to announce and confirm details, around proposed job cuts and sending jobs offshore.

The call comes after the major telephone company announced yesterday, 651 jobs will go across call and customer service centres in regional NSW and Queensland, as well as from Sydney and Melbourne.

The union has called an urgent meeting because they were only notified about the cuts, after the decision had been made.

Some of these jobs, both technical and call centre work, are set to go offshore to the Philippines, but it is unknown how many.
