Siege in Brisbane CBD ends peacefully

A siege in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall ended safely this afternoon with no member of the public injured in the stand-off.

 A man aged in his early 30’s entered the Queen Street shopping complex wielding a handgun causing an emergency situation putting the busy area into lockdown evacuating shoppers and disrupting CBD traffic.

 The man was subdued by police and taken to hospital with minor non-life threatening injuries.

 Acting Chief Superintendent Mark Ainsworth has praised the efforts of police and the public.
