SA Premier to support gay marriage bill

South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill will support gay marriage legislation, that will be introduced in state parliament’s lower house today.

It comes as South Australia’s upper house passed a motion yesterday, congratulating New Zealand on its marriage equality laws.

The state’s Opposition Leader Steven Marshall is also being pressured to allow Liberal MPs a conscience vote on the legislation.

Mr Weatherill says loving couples should have the right to have their relationships legally and publicly recognised.
