SA Premier calls on PM Abbott to commit to Holden

South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill has handed the federal government a Christmas deadline, to secure Holden’s manufacturing future.

Mr Weatherill says if the government does not commit more funding to the manufacturing sector of the company, by Christmas, then manufacturing will cease in Australia from 2016.

The Premier has raised concerns about the issue, because he believes 16,000 jobs could be lost in South Australia alone.

But Mr Abbott has promised to cut $500 million dollars of car industry assistance.
