Results for undecided electorates could be 11 days away

The Australian Electoral Commission says they will spend the next week going over ballot papers in marginal seats to confirm who has been elected.

According to official figures in the Tally Room, there are 4 seats that are still undecided, including Liberal MP Sophie Mirabella’s.

Spokesperson for the AEC Phil Diak says, a result for the seat of Indi could possibly be 11 days away.

Mr Diak says for results that come down to the wire, postal votes need to be counted, which stop arriving on September 20.

Ms Mirabella is expected to be part of Tony Abbott’s cabinet if she is re-elected, meaning the swearing in ceremony could be delayed.
