Qld police continue search for babies' remains

Queensland police will spend a third day excavating a rural property in the state’s south, in the search for the remains of several babies believed to be buried there.

Officers began searching the property near Gin Gin, southwest of Bundaberg on Monday, but no bones have been found so far.

Police have received information several babies were born in secret in the late 1990s and early 2000’s, and their remains disposed of at the property.

Investigators say they have uncovered some items that are foreign to the soil, but more investigation is needed to determine whether they are relevant to the case.

Police have confirmed a family that used to live at the poperty is under investigation.
