Pro-Russian troops take over 2 Crimean navy bases

Pro-Russian forces have taken over two naval bases in Crimea overnight, while the head of the Ukrainian Navy has been taken.

Ukraine has announced it will attempt to evacuate residents and troops from the occupied area.

But, following the move by Russia, the international community has joined together to take further action against the country.

Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have agreed to building on travel bans and asset freezes, which were agreed to earlier by European foreign ministers.

The two political leaders have also agreed, the international community should do all it canto provide Kiev with the economic assistance it needs.

Meanwhile, the European leaders have been joined by the US.

US Vice-President Joe Biden says Russia will find itself in a difficult situation if it doesn’t cooperate.
