National Security threat in Darwin

Northern Territory police are investigating allegation that an intruder has broken into a Navy Ship in Darwin, tying up crew members before stealing a number of weapons.

The Department of Defence says early this morning an intruder entered HMAS Coonawarra, overpowered the duty member and then accessed the vessel’s armoury and removed a number of weapons.

Defence is calling the incident a breach of national security and a police investigation has now been launched.
