Murdoch to stay as head of News Corp

Head of News Corporation Rupert Murdoch has survived a petition by some shareholders to have him removed from his role as Chairman and CEO, following months of scandal in regards to phone hacking in Britain.

At the organisations AGM, shareholders have voted down calls for change at the helm of News Corporation, despite pressure from institutional investor groups and pension funds.

Some shareholders were hoping to remove him from both positions and restructure the board, getting rid of both¬†Murdoch’s sons, Lachlan and James.

Mr Murdoch says the move shows investors do have faith in the future of the company.
