Morcombe trial to begin today

The trial against Daniel Morcombe’s alleged killer will begin in Brisbane’s Supreme Court today.

44-year-old Brett Peter Cowan is accused of killing the 13-year-old from the Sunshine Coast, after Daniel disappeared in 2003.

His remains were found in bushland in the Glass House Mountains in 2011 and Cowan was subsequently charged with his murder, as well as indecent treatment of a child and interfering with a corpse.

The trial is expected to continue for 6 weeks.
