Labor calls for investigation into entitlement claims

┬áThe Labor party is calling for an investigation into a number of Coalition MP’s, who used tax payer dollars to attend weddings of colleagues.

Among those who have been accused of misusing tax payer dollars is Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Mr Abbott has repaid about $1,700 he claimed for travel to attend the weddings of Sophie Mirabella and Peter Slipper.

Acting Shadow Attorney General Mark Dreyfus says no Australian would consider travelling to weddings as official business.

He says if Coalition MP’s believe their spending is justified, then there is scope for further investigation.

But Mr Abbott has called on his parliamentary colleagues to pay for anything they believe should not have been paid for with tax payer dollars.
