House fires claim 3 lives overnight

Arson squad investigators will this morning attempt to determine how a blaze started at a Melbourne house, which has claimed the lives of two people overnight.

The bodies of a man and a woman have been found by fire crews in a house at Deer Park.

Neighbours attempted to extinguish the blaze, after hearing a loud explosion and seeing flames come from the house.

The victims have not yet been identified.

Meanwhile police in Toowoomba, in Queensland say a house fire in the city’s north is not being treated as suspicious.

A 2-year-old boy died in the blaze last night, while 4 other children have been treated for smoke inhalation.
