Grampians fire continues to burn in Victoria

A watch and act alert remains in place for a large bushfire burning in the Grampians in Victoria.

An emergency alert was issued earlier this morning for the Cherrypool and Glenisla areas, but has now been donngraded, after a wind change brought some welcome relief for firefighters.

But authorities warn the threat is not yet over, and residents should check and follow their bushfire survival plan.

Victoria’s Fire Commissioner Craig Lapsley says the blaze will be a battle for firefighters over the next few days, as it has now grown in size.

He says while conditions are looking better, one spark flying in the wrong direction can set it off again.
