Cyclone Narelle upgraded to a Category 4

Residents in the north-east of Western Australia are dealing with the threat of cyclone Narelle.

The weather system was upgraded to a category 4 cyclone this morning, as it sits hundreds of kilometres out to sea.

A cyclone warning is in place for coastal areas from Whim Creek to Coral Bay, including Karratha ,Dampier, Onslow and Exmouth.

While the weather system is not expected to cross the coast, residents are being told to prepare.
