Castro confirmed as father of Berry's daughter

DNA tests have confirmed Ariel Castro, the man accused of holding three women captive in his home for 10 years, is the father of a six year old girl who was freed alongside the women this week.

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were released from Castro’s home in Cleveland, Ohio on Monday, after a neighbour heard their calls for help.

Ms Berry was accompanied by a six year old daughter, who had been born in the house.

Preliminary DNA tests have revealed Castro is the father of the girl – he’s reported to have raped and beaten all three women during their time in captivity.

It comes as the Michelle Knight has become the last of the women to be released from hospital overnight.
