Car manufacturing review terms of reference released

The Federal government has ordered an inquiry into ways to secure the future of Australia’s car manufacturing industry.

The Productivity Commission will look at the nation’s attractiveness to foreign investment, consumer preferences, workplace arrangements and research.

Federal Industry Minister Ian MacFarlane says nothing will be ruled out, including more government funding.

Mr MacFarlane will discuss the inquiry, and future of the industry, with Toyota executives in Japan this week.
