Aussie diggers killed in helicopter crash named

Chief of the Defence Force General David Hurley has released the names of two Australian soldiers killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan yesterday morning.

One has been named as Private Nathanael Galagher, a 23 year old who was on his second deployment to Afghanistan.

The other soldier killed in the crash was Lance Corporal Mervyn McDonald, who was 30 years of age and was on his sixth deployment to the country.

The crash followed the killing of three Australian soldiers who were shot by an Afghan National Army soldier.

General Hurley says the family of these men wish to keep their details private at this stage.
