Abbott sworn in as PM along with cabinet

Australia’s 28th Prime Minister Tony Abbott has been sworn in by Governor General Quentin Bryce.

Mr Abbott’s ministry has also been sworn in today, after it was named earlier this week.

The Coalition plans to get down to business today, with Mr Abbott saying there are two key issues that need to be addressed.

Mr Abbott’s first order of business will be to instruct the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to prepare legislation to repeal the carbon tax.

Treasurer Joe Hockey will also instruct the Clean Energy Corporation to cease operations.
