2 dead following a building explosion in NYC

2 people have died, 22 people have been injured and a number of others are missing, after adjoining residential buildings in New York’s East Harlem neighbourhood have exploded and collapsed.

Authorities believe a gas explosion may have caused the collapse, after a resident phoned the local gas company just 15 minutes before hand, complaining of a gas leak.

Of the 22 injured, 2 are in critical condition and 5 others are in a serious condition.

Mayor of New York City Bill De Blassio says authorities are doing everything they can to locate those who are missing.
