In cricket, Orange City saw it’s first loss of the Orange District Cricket Association season, at Wade Park over the weekend, as the Cavaliers prevailed with a clinical performance.

A stand out player was Harry Pearce, who kept dynamic duo Shaun Grenfell and Ed Morrish out, to help secure his side’s 18 run win.

City Colts stalwarts Henry Shoemark and Daniel Casey also put on a show in cricket, handing St Pat’s Old Boys their first loss of the Bathurst District Cricket Association first grade season.

The Colts claimed an 18 run win on the back of Shoemark’s 92 runs and Casey’s 6-47.

The triathlon in Bathurst over the weekend took centre stage on during the reporting on Wednesday. The Bathurst Triathlon Club’s long course race produced some impressive performances with a strong win and fierce battle for second place.

Nick North took the glory over the 500 metres swim 16.5 kilometre cycle and 5km run distance.

He opened up a one minute two seconds lead onto the bike after a 6.38 swim split as well as having the quickest cycle and run splits of any long course competitor.

On Thursday swimming was on the agenda, with the Bathurst City Amateur Swim Club starting their long course season in style, with a number of competitors already achieving NSW State Age qualifying times and setting new personal bests.

Club publicity officer Meredith Caddis said she wasn’t surprised at all to see such results as the club has a very strong group of junior swimmers coming up through the ranks.

“It’s really great to see these results after all the hard work that they’ve put in throughout winter,” she said.

On Friday, Erin Archer presented the sport bulletin.
