Suspicious fires in Parkes

A string of fires have been reported in Parkes over the weekend.

In the early hours of Saturday morning police were called to two fires behind Discount Daves and Betta Electrical in Clarinda Street.

Although there was no structural damage to the buildings some stock was lost.

This fire followed the burning of two wheelie bins in the housing flats behind Grenfell Street.

Residents were promptly evacuated after smoke began to fill the units.

In addition, fireworks were set off behind a metal fabrication business in Saleyard’s Road.

Police are treating all incidents as potentially related, as well as the burning of a car in Talbot Street on Sunday.
