Protect your windscreens…with a doona!

Car owners are being urged to protect their windscreens this winter, alongside a warning that pouring water on a windscreen is going to cost them.

A run of sub zero temperatures throughout the Bathurst region has resulted in an influx of broken windscreens.

Experts suggest instead of using water or a credit card to clear the ice, which often cracks or scratches the screen, to opt for protecting it with a doona, which will maintain a level temperature and prevent the ice from forming on the windscreen.

Glass is a natural product that is often fragile, especially when it already has a small chip in it.

Experts say it is best and cheapest to be prepared by covering it up.
