Orange man charged with firearm offences

A 21 year old man in Orange has been charged over the weekend with several firearm offences.

Police from Canobolas Local Area Command were called late Saturday afternoon, in response to a driving complaint.

Before stopping the vehicle a short time later, police allege a blue bag was thrown from the window.

Sonya Roberts  from NSW Police says after police located the bag and discovered the alleged firearm, the driver and his passenger were arrested and taken to Orange Police Station.

She says the 21 year old driver was charged with a number of offences, including possessing an unregistered firearm and breaching bail.

He appeared before Orange Local Court yesterday and was granted bail, he will appear before the same court again on May 9.
