Hospital Cafeteria Closing

Hospital Cafeteria Closing

Staff at Bathurst Base Hospital have been informed that their cafeteria will closecausing outrage among the workers

They’ve been told it’s due to a lack of use of the cafeteria however staff believe the reason is due to budget cuts

Bathurst Health Service general managerDAVID WRIGHT says there are alternative options for staff to purchase meals such as the on-site cafe and vending machines

However the staff say many workers complete demanding work of up to 17 hours and need the wholesome meals the cafeteria provides, not the pastries or fried food found elsewhere

The cafeteria was previously opened to serve lunch and dinner everyday with workers paying a reasonable cost if they chose to purchase a meal

Mr Wright says the staff dining room will be available for staff to use regardless of whether the cafeteria serves meals or not
