Former Stannies priest arrested

A 61-year-old man has become the 11th person to be charged over historic allegations of sexual abuse at Bathurst schools.

The former priest at St Stanislaus’ College was interviewed at Ryde Police Station, before being charged with 14 counts of aggravated sexual assault yesterday.

Officers attached to Strike Force Belle, which was established to investigate allegations of a paedophile ring operating in Bathurst in the 1970’s and 80’s, arrested the man.

The man has been granted bail with strict conditions and will appear in Burwood Local Court on April 23.
