Fatal motorbike accident near Blayney

A father has died and his son has received serious head injuries, after their motorbike collided with a horse.

The incident occurred last night at 8.15, on the Mid Western Highway near Lyndhurst, with the road having to be closed for three hours.

Inspector Mark Wall from Bathurst Police says the father and his son were thrown from the bike, resulting in fatal injuries for the man from the Penrith-area in Sydney.

The son from Forbes received serious injuries and was taken to Blayney Hospital, before being air-lifted to Westmead hospital.

The horse had to be put-down.
