Bathurst council over budget

Bathurst Regional Council’s consultancies and legal fees have blown out by more than $270,000 in the 9 months to March.

A quarterly review of the council’s financial position shows the council has paid out over $490,000  in consulting fees, $97,000 dollars over budget.

The council says the reasons the costs were incurred are due to the manganese removal trial and the Kelso traffic study.

Meanwhile, the council has spent $315,000 on external legal fees, $177,000 over the budgeted amount.
