Kandos' teens on par for victory

Jayden Taylor and Zac Kelly from Kandos have shone in Wagga Wagga competing in the Combined High Schools State Golf Championships.

The boys’ team managed 8th place, with Kelly finishing up an impressive 37th overall – only 18 points off first place – with 217 from 54 holes.

In the 15s’ catagory Taylor was class above the rest, winning the 15s’ Boys ‘Nett’ Cup and coming in 4th place in 15 Boys’  Standard Cup.

Golf in the Central West is looking strong. The Central West Dictrict Golf Association (CWDGA) has 15 different clubs registered within the district with regular competitions encouraging youth involvement.

A competition will be held in Cowra this Sunday for all junior competitors in the region, with registration through your local Golf Association.

Meanwhile, Kelly and Taylor will be looking to the next major state competition, the South Coast Masters at the end of August.
