Wages are too high and it’s cheaper to produce what we need overseas. This is not a new fact, but for companies in the Central West it’s all too real.

Is this the tip of the iceberg? Should the Central West brace itself for a total collapse of manufacturing?

Under the reign of Ben Chifley, Bathurst was renowned as an old rail town with a labour of love for hard yakka and hard earned living. However, the same cannot be said for the present day.

Grassroots Politics will conduct a special investigation into the future of this once proud industrial heart land.
